Antique Charles Meigh relief-molded stoneware jug dating to the early Victorian period, circa 1842. Known as the Apostle pattern, the body is decorated with finely molded standing figures beneath Gothic architectural arches, with an ornate molded spout and angular handle.
The underside bears the registered Charles Meigh mark reading “Registered March 17th 1842 by Charles Meigh, Hanley,” identifying the maker and design registration.
A striking example of 19th-century English Gothic Revival pottery with strong sculptural detail and a warm cream-colored glaze.
