Substantial and exceptionally heavy in construction, the chairs have an impressive quality and presence.

Each chair features a graceful vase-form back splat framed by sweeping curved stiles, with cabriole front legs accented by carved foliate knees and distinctive carved feet. The seats are upholstered in warm cognac-brown leather finished with traditional nailhead trim.

The leather has developed extensive cracking, rubbing, discoloration and surface wear, creating a dramatically distressed patina. This is very much part of the character of the set and gives the chairs the relaxed appearance of furnishings that have evolved over decades in an English country house or well-appointed traditional interior.

The wood also shows appropriate age-related wear and variations to the finish. Despite their aged appearance, these are substantial, solid-feeling chairs with considerable weight.

An especially decorative set for a dining room, library or large kitchen where authentic patina and old-world character are desired.
