He later joined UP Závody, where he became the company's chief designer, a position he held until 1946. Beginning in the 1930s, Halabala profoundly influenced Czechoslovak furniture production, creating designs that furnished homes throughout Czechoslovakia and across Europe. His distinctive style successfully merged the geometric elegance of Czech Cubism and Art Deco with the functional principles of the Bauhaus movement, resulting in furniture that balanced beauty, comfort, and practicality. Today, Halabala's creations from the interwar and immediate postwar periods are widely regarded as some of the finest examples of 20th-century Czechoslovak design. This armchair has undergone a meticulous and comprehensive restoration carried out entirely using traditional artisanal techniques. The restoration required the complete disassembly of the chair, the careful refinishing of the wooden frame, and the complete reconstruction of the upholstery. It has been newly upholstered in a premium antique pink velvet, selected for its exceptional quality, durability, and elegant appearance. The restoration was expertly completed by a highly skilled Florentine craftsman, whose attention to detail and dedication have restored this remarkable piece to its original beauty while preserving its authentic character and craftsmanship. Art Deco was an influential decorative and artistic movement that flourished throughout Europe and the United States during the 1920s and 1930s. The name derives from the Exposition Internationale des Arts Décoratifs et Industriels Modernes, held in Paris in 1925, an event that marked the emergence of a new aesthetic language that would shape architecture, decorative arts, industrial design, fashion, and the visual arts.
