The unusually large octagonal form measures nearly 12 inches across and 12 inches tall, giving it far more presence than the smaller painted boxes typically encountered. A vivid orange ground is accented with black, green, red, yellow, and white, with a different traditionally dressed figure decorating each side. The hinged lid features an elaborate gathering scene surrounded by a painted floral border.

A wonderfully decorative piece with a strong sense of age and extensive hand-painted detail.

Measures 11.75" W × 11.75" D × 12" H.

Vintage condition with age-appropriate surface wear, paint loss, checking, and small cracks. There is localized wood loss around one lid hinge; replacement screws have been installed and the lid now opens and closes securely. The lid fits snugly over the body. Sturdy and well made overall. See less
