We are delighted to offer for sale this stunning and very rare circa 1840 early victorian english oak games table … Read more We are delighted to offer for sale this stunning and very rare circa 1840 early victorian english oak games table this table is a bit of mystery, it has a square drop section in the middle which i assume is for making all the chips slide to the winners' side, it can be held down with two metal clips which are controlled by levers either side. There is a large button on side which i don’t know what it does, there are also two drawers which don’t seem to open, i assume the button unlocks the drawers and it's not working, on the underside of the opposite side there are two secret buttons, again i have no idea what they do in terms of condition we have deep cleaned hand condition waxed and hand polished it from top to bottom, the green felt is in good order, the middle drop mechanism works perfectly, the table comes with four candle holders, two are metal two plastic which i assume are replacements, all are a little bent and take a while to get them to screw in the correct position dimensions: height 71.5 cm width 77.5 cm depth 77.5 cm please note all measurements are taken at the widest point condition: please view the very detailed pictures as they form part of the description around condition please note vintage period and original items such as leather seating will always have natural patina in the form of cracking creasing and wear, we recommend regular waxing to ensure no moisture is lost, also hand dyed leather is not recommended to sit in direct sunlight for prolonged periods of time as it will dry out and fade.
