Inspired by the graceful curves of the Louis … Read more Impressive early-20th-century French Provincial buffet or enfilade crafted in richly toned walnut. Inspired by the graceful curves of the Louis XV period, the substantial case features a shaped serpentine front, four paneled cabinet doors, four central drawers and an elaborately carved apron raised on short cabriole-style feet.

Carved floral, foliate and shell motifs extend across the doors and lower apron, while traditional ring pulls and decorative hardware complement the warm, aged finish. The spacious cabinets and central drawers provide generous storage, making this a beautiful and highly functional piece for a dining room, living room or large entry.

Construction details include solid frame-and-panel doors, plank-board backing secured to wooden battens, unfinished secondary woods and naturally aged interior surfaces. These elements are consistent with European furniture produced during the early decades of the 20th century. Believed to be French and dating to approximately 1920–1930; no maker’s mark has been located.

The left cabinet retains one interior shelf, while the corresponding shelf in the right cabinet is absent, allowing the right side to accommodate taller items.

The shaped top features decorative walnut parquetry with contrasting banded borders, highlighting the wood’s rich grain and naturally aged patina. See less
