This is a handsome matched pair of Chinese guardian Foo Lion (Foo Dog) statues cast in bronze with residual gilding and traces of cinnabar red paint.
The male lion rests his paw upon a symbolic ball representing power over the world; the female lion holds down a cub, symbolizing family continuity and prosperity. Both sit atop ornate drum‑form bases decorated with mask head knockers.
