He was a husband, a father and an artist, but did you know that he was also a temporary drummer for The Who? It's true! But before I tell you the story, I want to tell you about this print - pencil signed and titled, it is nicely matted and framed in a black metal tension frame. Minor scuffing to the frame, no damage to the print or mat. It measures 14.5" x 11.5"

Now the story - In 1973, they were playing a sold-out concert in California, to which he and a friend had scalped tickets. About 75 minutes into the show, the drummer collapsed and could no longer play (it was 1973 after all). Pete Townsend asked if anyone could play drums and his friend started yelling that Scot could play. Next thing he knew, he was given a shot of brandy for his nerves, and he was on-stage - he's a 19-year-old kid who hadn't played drums in a year since he had left high school, and here he is playing for The Who! He played the remaining 15-20 minutes of the show, and he and his friend got to accompany the band to the Party Room, where he was promised a $1000 check, allowed to keep the drumsticks and given a tour jacket.
According to the story, he and his friend were enamored by the buffet, eating and gathering food to take back home. He set down the jacket and the drumsticks he had used, and someone snatched them. So, with no jacket, drumsticks or money, he got in his VW Beetle and drove home and told his girlfriend the story. There have been a couple of different articles published about it over the years, and allegedly he never received any money, but did receive a thank you note from Pete Townsend years later.
His art has been featured in art shows all around the country, it was his passion and he believed in the healing properties of art. This is one of those pieces! See less
