The stone has a rich … Read more This is a substantial vintage neoclassical column pedestal crafted of beautifully figured Rosso Levanto marble. The stone has a rich burgundy to deep wine-red ground with dramatic cream, white and subtle gray veining and bold natural mineral formations throughout.

The pedestal has a classic architectural form with a cylindrical column shaft, deeply molded capital and base, and substantial square top and plinth. The polished marble beautifully highlights the natural variation and movement in the stone.

Exceptionally heavy and well made, the pedestal separates into approximately five individual marble sections, making it much easier to transport and position.

A striking decorative piece with wonderful scale and presence, it would be ideal for displaying a sculpture, bust, urn, large vase or other decorative object. The extensive veining and natural variation in the marble make each section visually unique.

This is in very good vintage condition with age-appropriate wear. See less
