The serpentine apron is embellished with carved floral and foliate motifs, echoed at the knees of the graceful cabriole legs. Sweeping upholstered arms, a double-arched shaped back and decorative nailhead trim complete the classic French profile. The back is fully upholstered, allowing the piece to be used away from a wall as well as against one.

When acquired, the loveseat retained a traditional tight upholstered seat with horsehair filling. A full-length loose down-filled seat cushion was subsequently added and is included with the piece. The down cushion remains a particularly nice feature and can be recovered along with the loveseat.

The existing champagne-toned upholstery has substantial staining, discoloration and wear and the piece is being offered as a reupholstery project. For someone willing to recover it, the lovely carved frame and classic proportions provide an excellent foundation for a truly special statement piece.
