Pair of heavy hand-blown glass vases designed by Jan Beránek for the Škrdlovice Glassworks in Czechoslovakia, 1960s.
The two vases share asymmetrical openings, folded contours and deep hand-worked indentations. Variations in the thickness of the glass create changing areas of colour and transparency. The taller vase is made in azure blue, while the smaller lilac vase provides a contrasting, more compact form. Each was individually shaped at the furnace, giving it subtle irregularities associated with handmade production.
