Each designer approaches the surface differently. Werner Schreib’s slender cylindrical vase, model 3030/18, was produced in 1970 and is covered with a fine linear relief that gives the simple form a measured optical rhythm. Martin Freyer’s model 3080/20, also produced in 1970, has a broad, compressed body with a deeply worked surface resembling fractured rock or a shifting landscape. Werner Uhl’s tall “Pisa” vase, model 3506/34, was produced in 1978. Its sharply stepped geometric planes give the arrangement a strong vertical accent.
