piece is is made of beechwood, and showcases a beautifully hand-carved, "faux bamboo" effect reminiscent of the late 19th to early 20th century, and has a rich, warm, golden-oak color (see photos.)

the rack has 3 swivel-arms. Each one has its own, long horizontal, turned wood peg, (see photos.) the swivel arms are multi-directional: they move from left to right, as well as through the center and back of the piece. There is a slight, squeaky sound when moved, as the piece is old.

the original, brass-colored, oval, hanging ring hooks mounted at both ends of the top of the rack, enable the piece to be hung against a wall, or into a beam or ceiling, making it versatile in terms of where one wishes to hang it, and how one wishes to use it.

piece is in good, original and vintage condition, with some signs and marks of age and previous usage commensurate with time, on the overall structure (see photos.) it has maintained a very nice patina of time. A few old signs of woodworm (see photos), but the wood has been treated as well as polished, oiled and waxed, with respect to the original patina. Note: coat rack bends slightly outwards, as it is a nearly 150 year old piece, but nothing that affect its functionality nor beauty. A small chip on the upper part of the back, of the center swivel arm, and couple of small chips on the left upper and lower edging (see photos.)
