This highly decorative pre-war chandelier showcases the sophisticated glassmaking tradition for which czechoslovakia became internationally renowned. Its elaborate composition combines sculptural clear glass, frosted molded glass and discreet metal fittings into an elegant and visually impressive lighting object. Six gracefully curved transparent glass arms radiate from the richly modeled central body. Each arm supports a substantial flower-shaped glass shade featuring a striking combination of clear and satin-frosted surfaces. The sculpted ribs emphasize the fan-like geometry of the shades and create an especially attractive effect when illuminated. The chandelier’s tall central stem is composed of several decorative clear-glass elements, including elongated faceted forms and a distinctive geometric diamond-shaped detail. An ornamental glass finial completes the lower section, while a large molded glass ceiling canopy continues the design at the top. The interplay between transparent and frosted glass is particularly effective when illuminated: the satin surfaces gently diffuse the light while the clear glass arms and architectural details reflect and refract it throughout the fixture. With its generous 72 cm / 28.3 in diameter, the chandelier has considerable visual presence without appearing excessively heavy, making it an excellent statement piece for a dining room, entrance hall, living space or hospitality interior. The chandelier has been carefully refurbished and professionally rewired with new electrical components while retaining its authentic vintage character.
