At each shelf-to-upright junction, a triangular cut bracket provides support, giving the piece its structural character. The piece is painted throughout in a worn blue, beneath which an earlier layer of green-teal paint is visible in areas of loss, suggesting at least two paint campaigns over its lifetime. Iron nail heads are visible at the bracket joints. Some of the shelving surfaces show minor board separation consistent with age and natural wood movement. See less
