The group combines three … Read more Black and anthracite porcelain vase trio by Martin Freyer and Elsa Fischer-Treyden/Margret Hildebrand for Rosenthal, Germany. The group combines three contrasting forms: a tall relief-covered column, a compact grid-textured vase and a rounded Structura Ribs vase.

The tall Martin Freyer vase has layered horizontal lines resembling wood grain or geological strata. It is marked Rosenthal Porcelaine Noire, Martin Freyer and Studio-Line. The smaller rectangular vase features a close geometric grid and is marked Rosenthal Germany; it is attributed to Freyer based on related Rosenthal relief designs.

The rounded vase is from Elsa Fischer-Treyden’s Structura Ribs series, form 12948. Its matte surface is divided into alternating bands of vertical ribs and finely impressed texture. It bears Rosenthal Porcelaine Noire and Studio-Line marks.
