Pair of hand-blown glass vases attributed to cari zalloni for the wmf group, germany, dating from the 1970s. The two pieces feature closely related conical bodies with wide, gently flared openings, executed in complementary shades of amber and warm honey.
light passing through the thick glass produces shifting tones from golden brown to pale chartreuse. Under uv or black light, both vases fluoresce an intense chartreuse green. This reaction is consistent with uranium-bearing glass, although the composition has not been laboratory tested.
cari zalloni designed several glass series for glashütte maximiliansau, which formed part of the wmf group. His work is recognised for its clear geometry, bold proportions and distinctly futuristic character.
