C.i.a. Manna ceramic umbrella holder, “robin hood.” turin, 1950s
origin turin
period 1950s
artist in the late 1920s, ceramicist mrs. Manna was hired as a modeler and decorator at the lenci artistic ceramics factory in turin, owned by helen konig scavini. Like other employees of the renowned turin factory, she left lenci in the early 1930s—by then in deep financial trouble—and opened her own workshop in turin called c.i.a. (ceramica italiana artistica), located at via mondrone 10. The c.i.a.’s kilns produced vases, ornaments, dainty statuettes, and feminine figurines modeled after lenci’s ceramics.
brand: c.i.a. Manna in the early 1930s, mrs. Manna, a former decorator at the turin-based lenci factory specializing in artistic ceramics, opened the c.i.a. (ceramica italiana artistica) factory in turin to produce artistic ceramics. The factory’s creations drew inspiration from lenci’s designs and consisted, for the most part, of female figurines, genre statuettes, and ornaments. Among the company’s various collaborators in the 1940s were lino berzoini and the decorators emma pellegrini and margherita costantino. In the 1950s, the factory produced its works at its location at via mondrone 10 in turin.
