The wood is worked entirely by hand into a dense pattern of faceted, pyramid-like spikes that covers the central column and the five radiating arms, contrasting with smooth turned collars and cone-shaped finials at each joint. A turned ceiling canopy conceals the suspension point, from which the fixture hangs on a short chain before opening into its five-arm silhouette. Each arm terminates in a turned wood socket cup dressed with a faux wax candle sleeve, giving the piece the presence of a traditional candle chandelier while running on electric light. The geometric, almost architectural carving recalls the rustic modernism that defined French interiors after the war, when designers moved away from lacquer and metal toward heavy, tactile wood forms.
