A handsome, compact writing desk that combines the look of a traditional secretary desk with a streamlined silhouette. The deep black finish gives it a polished, sophisticated presence, while its relatively small footprint makes it especially well suited to an apartment, bedroom, library, or home office.

The desk opens to reveal a pull-out work surface and two concealed drawers, providing a surprisingly useful workspace without the visual clutter of a conventional desk. When closed, it has the appearance of an elegant piece of occasional furniture. in my home, we've been calling it "the harpsichord" because of the cute, compact, unexpected look.

I purchased the desk approximately one year ago and added custom-cut red velvet liners to the drawers, which give the interior an unexpected, luxurious touch. The velvet is completely removable and was installed without glue or adhesive, so it can be lifted out without leaving any residue or altering the original finish.

The desk has been only gently used and has plenty of life ahead of it. A particularly nice choice for someone who wants a functional workspace that doesn't make a room feel like an office.
