A very large and lovely antique black toleware tray.

This highly collected almost piece of metal art displays freehand bronze leaves and flowers.
Some leaves are in silhouette. Some have a red wash.

Use as a tray. Hang on the wall. Display on your counter or n an ottoman.
An American toleware tray is a hand-painted or stenciled sheet-metal (usually tin or iron) serving tray. Originating from 18th-century European lacquered metalwork, it evolved into a bold folk-art tradition in New England, New York, and Pennsylvania featuring vibrant florals, fruit still-lifes, and gilded scrollwork. 

Minor surface wear.
An old label is still affixed on the backside where a previous owner documented the design. See less
