Truly an exceptional, statement painting from Berlin. An evolutionary piece from his Lil’ Angel series depicting the Guardian Angels of New York from the 1980s. Alongside artistic icons of that groundbreaking, seminal era the Angels played a formational role in Berlin’s artists life in New York in the 1980’s. This vibrantly neon work glows with an electric blue background from which the figure and motifs pop and zing; reaching outwards off the canvas. Elements of tribal art swirl and mingle with more modernist expressionism forming a coherent representation of 21st century historical references,culture and understanding.
