An original woodblock print by Tsukioka Yoshitoshi (1839-1892) from his masterpiece series 'One Hundred Aspects of the Moon' (月百姿, Tsuki hyakushi), the last great series of the ukiyo-e tradition. The subject is the Tang-dynasty poet Wang Changling (王昌齢), shown in a moonlit scene inscribed with the line 'West Palace, night still, a hundred flowers fragrant' - one of the most poetic designs in the series.
Sheet approx. 35.7 x 24 cm (14.1 x 9.4 in). The original seller's condition note is detailed: backed (urauchi), with soiling, creases, holes, tears, cuts and repairs, slight trimming, and fragile areas where paper is cut. Please examine the photos carefully; this is an honest antique.
