An original Meiji woodblock triptych by Kobayashi Kiyochika (1847-1915), dated Meiji 15 (1882), showing the Soga brothers' famous night attack on Kudo Suketsune - one of Japan's great revenge tales. Kiyochika, celebrated for his atmospheric Meiji-era cityscapes, here turns to the warrior genre with dramatic, energetic composition.
