A commanding large-scale oil of two cheetahs at rest by a lake, signed lower right, in an extraordinary artist-constructed frame.
The frame is what makes this piece. It’s built from salvaged pressed-tin ceiling panels in at least three distinct patterns — gilt, oxidized bronze, and a single oxblood square that interrupts the rhythm — mounted on a hand-built wood substructure with an arched crest. The silhouette is intentionally irregular, flaring and curving rather than sitting square. This is not a production frame; it was made by hand for this painting.
The painting itself is confidently rendered, with real attention to musculature and the weight of the animals in the landscape. Warm greens and golds throughout.
