This is a striking and beautiful matching pair of vintage Chinese glass (Liuli) sculptures depicting the mythical Kirin (or Qilin).
Material and Color: The figures are crafted from thick, high-quality glass with a mesmerizing deep amethyst-purple and dark blue hue. When light passes through them, they reveal a brilliant, translucent glow.
The Design: The Kirins are depicted in a proud, seated posture with mouths open in a fierce yet protective roar. One Kirin rests its front paw securely on a traditional Chinese coin (representing wealth), while the other holds a rounded treasure/gourd.
Meaning: In Chinese culture, the Kirin is a highly auspicious creature, said to appear only in times of peace and prosperity. They are believed to ward off evil spirits and attract good luck and wealth, making them perfect Feng Shui guardians.
