The vase has a glossy coral-red ground decorated with a crane in gold, white, black and turquoise blue, accompanied by finely drawn flowers, leaves and fruiting branches. Gilded bands finish the flared rim and foot.

The classic baluster form and East Asian-inspired decoration reflect the European Chinoiserie tradition during the Art Deco period. The crane’s curved neck, extended wings and patterned feathers create a strong sense of movement across the red surface.
