The t292 model is one of hans-agne jakobsson’s most iconic designs. Designed in 1958 for the hans-agne jakobsson ab workshop in markaryd, it perfectly reflects the scandinavian approach to lighting design—the light should be soft, warm, and easy on the eyes, while the fixture itself should delight with its simplicity and flawless craftsmanship.
the lamp is crafted from solid copper, whose warm hue develops a noble patina over time, emphasizing the object’s authenticity and history. Its form is based on the juxtaposition of two simple shapes—a slender cylinder and a wide, cylindrical shade—creating a balanced, architectural composition characteristic of scandinavian modernism.
the most distinctive element of the design is the perforated ring positioned between the cylinder and the shade. The tiny holes allow light to pass upward, creating a subtle glow and giving the lamp a unique visual lightness. At the same time, the light is directed downward, providing even and pleasant illumination of a tabletop or a selected area of the interior. This solution has become one of the recognizable hallmarks of jakobsson’s designs.
the minimalist form and the nobility of the material make the t292 model a perfect fit for both classic mid-century modern interiors and modern designs. The lamp is an example of timeless design, in which its decorative quality stems not from ornamentation, but from perfect proportions, high-quality craftsmanship, and a thoughtful use of light.
today, the copper t292 is one of hans-agne jakobsson’s most highly regarded designs and is a sought-after model among collectors of scandinavian design. Early versions made of solid copper are particularly prized for their high-quality craftsmanship and the material’s beautiful patina as it ages.
