The piece showcases a warm, natural oak grain finish with subtle decorative linear grooving along the drawer fronts. Each spacious knapp jointed drawer is equipped with a central keyhole and flanked by ornate, polished brass batwing bail pulls that provide an elegant contrast to the wood tone. Built with a solid flat top and a sturdy, recessed plinth base, this versatile 19th-century furniture piece functions exceptionally well as a bedroom blanket chest, a low hallway storage credenza, or a unique media console.

The Knapp joint was developed during the late Victorian Era in post Civil War United States. Patented by Charles Knapp of Waterloo, WI in 1867, the Knapp Joint was a huge breakthrough for the furniture industry; machines called routers made circular cuts in wood far quicker than by hand. The Knapp Joint is particularly unique to furniture as it was only used from 1870 until 1900. It is also referred to as the Pin and Cove Drawer.
