The ornate escutcheon includes a key to operate the working lock. Its lid, decorated with iron rosettes at the front corners, opens on hand-forged iron hinges to a deep and wide compartment to use as a traditional footlocker at the end of a bed or other storage needs around the home. A stepped base lifts the case from the floor. This cherished antique has been gently cleaned and polished with a French paste wax to maintain it for future generations. We believe this to be in good antique condition considering its age, and any visible signs of wear are captured in the photos.
