A horizontal band of small X motifs crosses the panel at its midpoint, dividing the composition into two registers, a rhythmic, banded structure characteristic of Bwa, Gurunsi, and Mossi shutter carving. A small wood peg projects from the upper left corner, the door's original hinge lug. The panel shows crisp, well-preserved carving with light surface wear and a warm, even patina throughout. This waffle-grid and register-band vocabulary is distinct from the scalloped arcs and concentric circles typical of neighboring Dogon and Bamana work, reflecting the shared Voltaic geometric tradition these Gur-speaking peoples carry across doors, masks, and painted architecture alike.
