Above, a horizontal header band carries a chevron and arc pattern, transitioning into a triangular cross-hatch panel before the main X composition begins. A small carved peg extends from the upper right corner, the door's original hinge lug. This graphic X-in-diamond vocabulary is the defining signature of Bwa and Gurunsi carving, distinct from the scalloped arcs and concentric circles typical of neighboring Dogon and Bamana work, though the two traditions share the broader Voltaic visual language closely enough that dealers routinely note the overlap.
The panel is carved-only, without applied pigment, either originally uncolored or with any pigment long since worn away, both legitimate within this tradition. Condition is good, with light surface wear and no structural cracking. Mounted on a custom black stand, the door's bold graphic pattern reads strongly at a distance.
