Hand-carved from a single plank of hardwood, this door carries Mali's Dogon or Bamana geometric tradition in a converging diagonal chevron pattern that forms an X across the panel, accented with small carved diamonds and finished with a narrow hatched band along the top edge. A dark, naturally stained patch on the lower right — likely the result of old resin, tar, or prolonged smoke exposure from proximity to a household cooking fire — adds a distinctive mark of the door's working history rather than reading as damage. The carving remains legible throughout, with a moderate, evenly built patina consistent with genuine antique use.
The reverse is left plain and naturally weathered. Mounted on its custom stand, the door's compact scale and confident chevron pattern make it a versatile graphic accent, well suited to smaller wall spaces, an entry table, or grouped alongside other pieces in the collection.
