Three levels of lighting and ambiance are achievable with this lamp:

An upper, standard socket/bulb can be lit independently.
A hidden bulb within the lamp's body can be lit independently.
Both bulbs can be lit together.

Please note that the dimensions given include the harp and finial. No lampshade is included. The finial does not screw on securely to its fitting, which is thinner than standard. The simple and invisible solution is to wrap a bit of Scotch tape around the bolt first to add thickness, then screw the finial on securely. See the last two images to clarify this. See less
