Exceptional pair of Baker Furniture Modern Art Deco oval nightstands or occasional side tables, designed by Michael Vanderbyl for Baker Furniture, USA, late 20th century.
These are the distinctive Baker Primavera oval nightstands featuring beautifully figured, bookmatched Primavera veneer, softly rounded cylindrical forms, curved stepped bases, and original silver-tone/nickel hardware. Each table features a shallow upper drawer and a larger lower cabinet compartment with the original Baker hardware.
The dramatic grain patterning across the drawer and cabinet fronts is particularly beautiful, with the figured Primavera veneer creating a geometric, almost radiating effect across each facade. The finished backs allow the tables to be used floating in a room rather than only against a wall.
