Originally developed as a modular seating system for airports and other public spaces, the Tandem Sling combines an exceptionally light visual appearance with a robust and highly engineered construction.

This early example retains its original black vinyl upholstery, with the characteristic geometric pattern formed across the individual seat and back panels. The three seats are suspended within sculpted polished cast-aluminium frames and mounted on a central steel beam. Padded black armrests complete the design.

The sweeping aluminium profiles, reclined backs and projecting seat frames give the bench a distinctly architectural and almost aerodynamic appearance. Particularly attractive from the side, the construction clearly reveals the technical character that runs throughout the Eameses’ work. I have official proof of authenticity such as vintage catalogs,
