Painted against a dramatic near-black background, the composition features richly colored blossoms in shades of coral, rose, ivory, blue, yellow and green. Fine linear brushwork throughout the petals creates wonderful texture and dimension, while the dark ground gives the flowers an almost luminous appearance.
The painting is presented in an impressive deep, carved wood frame with antiqued dark brown and warm gilt finishes. A natural linen liner surrounds the canvas and provides an elegant transition between the painting and substantial architectural frame.
The reverse retains its vintage wood stretcher with European-language manufacturer’s stamps. The outer frame also bears a Made in Mexico marking, suggesting the painting was subsequently paired with or framed in its decorative Mexican-made frame. See less
