The three monochromatic works depict dramatically rendered character studies inspired by the great European drawing tradition of the Renaissance, including imagery associated with the work and circle of Albrecht Dürer and other Northern and Italian Renaissance masters. Each portrait displays remarkable facial character, from the finely articulated profile at left to the expressive male studies at center and right.
The works are individually set beneath glass within a substantial wood frame finished in a beautifully aged sage/olive green with gilt-gold molding and accents. The combination of muted green, warm gilding, and monochromatic artwork gives the piece an especially sophisticated Old World appearance.
The reverse retains its traditional individual wood backing panels and hanging hardware. Wonderful natural wear and patina are present throughout the frame, adding to its collected European character.
An excellent decorative piece for an Old World, Renaissance Revival, Grand Tour, traditional, English country, European eclectic, or maximalist interior. Particularly handsome displayed above a writing desk, incorporated into a gallery wall, or placed among antique furniture and objects. See less
