Snuff bottles have been around since the 1700s. Initially made for members of the Imperial court, by the mid-1800s, they were essential to all levels of society, and the number and style of your snuff bottle became a symbol of status. By the 1900s, their manufacture had all but ceased.
This is a rare, intricately hand-carved snuff bottle featuring nude women around the bottle. A small cork stopper that fits securely, the bottle shows no damage, is not marked and measures 3.5" tall.
