the top is a fine example of scandinavian intarsia work: a rounded triangular surface inlaid with an abstract composition of organic shapes, each veneered in a different wood. Birch, satinwood, macassar ebony, teak and burl wood are combined, each chosen for its own grain and tone. One shape is further inlaid with a small mosaic of lighter wood segments, a detail that shows a high level of marquetry skill. A thin band of lighter wood winds between the shapes, tying the whole composition together like a map or abstract landscape. The table stands on three slightly tapered legs in black lacquered beech wood, finished with brass sabots.
