A large-scale patinated bronze depicting a bearded satyr seated on a naturalistic rocky base, head thrown back with one arm … Read more A large-scale patinated bronze depicting a bearded satyr seated on a naturalistic rocky base, head thrown back with one arm raised in a gesture of lament — the “weeping satyr.” His other hand grips his hair. Goat hindquarters and cloven hoof rendered in the classic Bacchanalian tradition associated with Clodion (Claude Michel, 1738–1814). Rich brown-black patina with fine surface detail throughout. Signed “Clodion” in cursive to the terrace. Likely a later French foundry casting after Clodion’s original models — offered as “after Clodion.”
