Originally introduced during the Art Deco period around 1928–1930, these examples were produced circa 1945–1955 and are executed in satin frosted and clear lead crystal, showcasing the refined craftsmanship and sculptural elegance for which Lalique is renowned.

Authentication is supported by multiple pieces of physical evidence, including acid-etched Lalique signatures, the original 11.604 Lalique factory inventory label retained on the Moineau Hardi, satin-frosted crystal with polished highlights, exceptional mold definition, hand-finished polishing, and substantial lead crystal construction. The companion bird bears the early "Lalique Moineau" script signature. Together, the signatures, surviving factory label, and production characteristics support an early post-war date of manufacture.

Originally conceived by René Lalique, the Moineau series remains among the firm's most recognizable animal sculptures. Early post-war examples retaining original signatures and factory labels are encountered less frequently than later production, while matched pairs are appreciably less common than individual figures.
