A beautiful and increasingly hard-to-find antique oak roll-top desk by Paris Manufacturing Co. of South Paris, Maine, U.S.A., clearly marked No. 650 on the back.
This is a wonderful example of early American office furniture, with gorgeous oak grain, warm aged patina, and an impressive amount of original character. The classic tambour roll-top closes over the writing area, transforming the piece from an open workspace into a handsome piece of furniture.
The interior is exceptionally charming and functional, featuring multiple letter/document cubbies, small drawers, shelving and organizers. Below the writing surface are additional drawers, including deep storage drawers, accented by period-style brass hardware and traditional keyhole escutcheons.

The roll-top/tambour appears intact and closes neatly, and the interior retains its wonderful assortment of small drawers, pigeonholes, dividers and storage compartments. Brass-tone drawer pulls and keyhole hardware are present as shown. The back retains the original Paris Mfg. Co., South Paris, Maine, U.S.A. maker’s stamp. The back and other less-visible areas show additional scratches, marks and discoloration consistent with an antique piece. Overall, this desk presents beautifully and retains the authentic character and patina that make antique furniture so appealing. It has not been refinished to appear new, and evidence of its history remains visible throughout.
