The surviving composition reads as an abstract botanical or foliate design, with the original imagery transformed by cropping and centuries of wear into a dramatic arrangement of color, texture, and shape.

The coloration is wonderfully warm and subdued. Layers of mustard gold, ochre, caramel, camel brown, tobacco, tan, beige, taupe, muted olive, cream, rust, gray-brown, and deep blue create a complex antique palette. At the upper right, a bold indigo and cream striped foliate form stands apart from the warmer background and becomes the strongest visual focal point of the pillow.

Age has given the tapestry a deeply textured surface with visible fading, worn pile, thinning, scattered losses, irregular weave, old repairs, and softened outlines. These variations are characteristic of a textile of this period and preserve the authentic patina developed over centuries.
