This Thonet drafting stool was recovered from the offices of Anaconda Brass Corporation in Waterbury, CT. Research and direct contact with Thonet in New York and Vienna has revealed no matches so it appears to be somewhat rare. The stamp would indicate it was sold out of Thonet, New York however the representative I spoke with was unaware of any drafting stools made in New York and suggested it may have come from Gebruder Thonet in Vienna. Without too much information, it is difficult to determine an age however, Anaconda Brass was extremely active between 1920 and 1950 where they manufactured brass shell casings for WW1 and WW2
I acquired the stool in 1998 and it has been used in my Architectural practice for over 25 years. It is extremely comfortable and in excellent condition.
