An elegant and highly tactile mid-century Scandinavian art glass vase, hand-blown in Sweden during the late 1960s or 1970s.
This striking piece features an expressive, hand-formed ruffled "handkerchief" rim that flares gracefully from a tapered, slender waist. The body is decorated using a complex "confetti" or frit technique, created by rolling molten glass in crushed glass particles to form a densely variegated pattern. It showcases a beautifully curated, organic color palette of deep tobacco brown, mossy olive green, and warm cream flecks.
The multicolored exterior layer is cased with a pale internal lining, giving the piece exceptional depth and a luminous quality when it catches the light. The underside reveals a prominent, authentic rough-snapped pontil scar—a classic hallmark of traditional, hand-blown Swedish studio glass production from this era.
Perfect as a standalone modernist statement piece, a vessel for dried florals, or as a rich textural addition to a collection of vintage Murano, Scandinavian, or mid-century ceramics.
