Constructed from substantial solid wood planks, this unusually large and low table retains an extraordinary untouched surface developed through generations of use. The wide plank top is covered with historic scratches, handwritten markings, incised lines, old nail heads, stains, checking and natural variations in the timber.
A large central drawer with a simple wooden pull is incorporated into the deep apron. Heavy square legs and the exposed underside reveal the table's straightforward vernacular construction and substantial old timbers.
Originally acquired in the Netherlands as an antique Spanish betaaltafel dating to the 18th/19th century. No documentation accompanies the table independently confirming its precise date, and it is therefore being presented with its original attribution.
Its approximately 63-inch length and low 20–21-inch height make it particularly well suited today as a substantial antique coffee table or center table.

CONDITION
Very good antique condition for a utilitarian piece of this age, with extensive authentic wear.
The top retains substantial age-related character, including old writing and markings, scratches, stains, nail heads, checking, cracks, unevenness and separation between the wide planks. These characteristics are visible in the photographs and are integral to the table's appearance and history.
The surface has deliberately not been refinished to preserve its aged character and patina.
