Weighing an impressive 3.5 pounds, this substantial decorative object combines whimsical animal imagery with the tactile, sculptural character of Japanese modernist metalwork.

The owl’s rounded body is topped by a removable sculpted head, revealing a hollow interior designed to accommodate incense or a small candle. Openings in the oversized circular eyes allow smoke or light to emerge, creating an especially atmospheric display when illuminated.

Its richly textured surface displays a dramatic mottled patina in deep bronze, copper, black and subtle verdigris-green tones. The abstracted facial features, organic silhouette and timeworn finish give the piece a distinctly Brutalist and wabi-sabi presence.
