A distinguished painter of the Liège School, Wurth trained at the Royal Academy of Fine Arts in Liège, exhibited at the Cercle Royal des Beaux Arts de Liège for more than forty years, and later served as professor of drawing at the Academy.
His celebrated body of work encompassed the forests, rivers, valleys, villages, and city scenes of the Ardennes and surrounding region, interpreted with close observation and an enduring sense of poetry. In this beautiful composition, a stately procession of trees establishes the foreground, their richly textured trunks and layered canopy drawing the eye along the shaded meadow toward the cattle grazing in the distance. Wurth balances deep forest greens, warm olive tones, and earthy browns with delicate passages of golden light, creating a convincing sense of depth and the peaceful atmosphere of a late summer afternoon.
