A striking vintage Chinese Satsuma-style porcelain floor vase featuring exceptionally elaborate polychrome decoration, raised moriage-style enamel work, and extensive gilt detailing. Standing approximately 24 inches tall, this substantial vase has wonderful presence and functions beautifully as a statement piece in an entryway, living room, dining room, or collected interior.
The richly decorated body features an intricate garden landscape populated with birds, flowering branches, peonies and other blossoms, a floral cart, water and landscape elements, all surrounded by highly detailed ornamental borders. Raised white enamel blossoms provide wonderful texture and dimension, while gilt accents and jewel-toned colors create a particularly opulent surface. The neck and shoulder continue the decoration with floral reserves, patterned borders and finely detailed motifs.
The underside retains its original mark reading “MADE IN CHINA / 中国制造 / SATSUMA,” along with the number 109. This is a Chinese-made Satsuma-style decorative porcelain vase rather than Japanese Satsuma ware.
The vase is in exceptional vintage condition and has been beautifully preserved. Its large scale, vibrant palette and remarkably detailed surface decoration make it an impressive decorative object for both traditional and eclectic interiors.
A beautiful example of late-20th-century Chinese decorative porcelain with tremendous visual impact.
